Lake George Elementary School recognized as a BEST school

New York’s elementary and middle school rankings were made public on Thursday, November 17, by U.S. News & World Report. Although this outlet is most well-known for its rankings of high schools and colleges, it has recently begun evaluating elementary (3-5) and middle schools. Lake George Elementary School and Junior High (6-8) have been listed in the top 40% of New York elementary schools in the U.S. News and World Report Best Elementary School rankings. In New York, there was a ranking of over 3,800 elementary schools, which placed Lake George at #474 and around 2,800 middle schools. Grade 6-8 in Lake George placed at #163. No national rating is in place.

The U.S. Department of Education’s available data is used in the rankings. Half of the score that each school earned, according to U.S. News & World Report, is determined by test results, while the other half is based on student demographics and how much each institution exceeded baseline expectations. Student-teacher ratios were utilized as the tiebreaker in cases where there were ties. Academic data is the basis for the rating.

Lake George Elementary Principal Conway said, “Being named a BEST Elementary and Middle school is a nice honor in line with recent accolades that LGES has received including being named a NYS “Recognition” School and a Leader in Me Academic Honor school. Our academic success is due to the hard work of our teachers, students, and families.”
