On Tuesday, May 19, voters in Lake George Central School District passed a $26,708,960 budget proposal for the 2026-27 school year by a vote of 299-63. Under the approved budget, a 3.29% tax increase will maintain all instructional, athletic, and co-curricular programming.
“Lake George has always taken pride in providing ‘small school, big opportunity’ experiences for our students,” Superintendent John Luthringer said. “This budget represents a thoughtful balance between meeting the needs of our students and community while supporting the high-quality educational opportunities our district provides.”
The voters also approved the purchase of one Microbird 16-passenger wheelchair lift gas bus to replace a 2013 model and one 60-passenger gas bus to replace a 2017 diesel bus at a cost not to exceed $318,857 by a vote of 294 to 69.
Voters elected the following candidates to fill two open seats on the Lake George Board of Education:
- Board Member Jeannine Bieber – 315 votes
- Term through June 30, 2029
- Board Member Rosemarie Earl – 318 votes
- Term through June 30, 2029
