Lake George Central School District Enhances School Safety with New Visitor Management System

Lake George Central School District will implement Visitor Aware by Singlewire, a web-based visitor management platform that adds another layer of security to existing building entry procedures. The system will allow school personnel to electronically register visitors, conduct background screenings and maintain accurate records of individuals entering and leaving school buildings.

The decision to introduce the system follows ongoing evaluations of district safety practices, including annual safety and security audits and recommendations from School Resource Officers and the Warren County Sheriff’s Office. These assessments have helped identify opportunities to strengthen existing procedures while continuing to provide a welcoming environment for families and community members

In addition to screening visitors, the system will create electronic records of visitor check-ins and check-outs, providing a picture of who is in district buildings at any given time. This information can be particularly valuable in the event of an emergency, when accounting for individuals inside a building is essential.

What to Expect When Visiting Our Schools

Beginning November 2, visitors will notice changes to the check-in process when entering district buildings with the introduction of Visitor Aware.

What to expect when you visit:

  • Bring your photo ID. Please have a valid, government-issued photo ID ready, such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport.
  • Use our main entrance. Please continue to use the designated entrance for your visit, just as you do now.
  • Check in at the kiosk. Use the self guided Visitor Aware kiosk in the vestibule to check in. If you need a hand, a member of our school team will gladly assist you.
  • Receive your visitor badge. Once you’re approved, you’ll get a sticker badge with your photo on it and be welcomed on your way to your destination.
  • Check out before you go. Please check out when you leave. This helps us keep an accurate record of who is in our buildings at all times.
