As part of Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School’s 100th anniversary celebration, we’re highlighting alumni whose stories reflect generations of Lake George students. This month, we catch up with Tucker Mogren, a 2015 Lake George High School graduate, to hear where life has taken him since graduation, how his experiences at Lake George helped shape his journey and why giving back to his school community remains important to him.
Q: Where did you go after graduating from Lake George?
A: After graduating from Lake George in 2015, I attended SUNY Polytechnic Institute in Utica, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in computer science in 2019. During my time at SUNY Poly, I became involved in student government and served as president of the Student Association. It was a great opportunity to build on the leadership experiences I had at Lake George and become involved in my college community.

Q: What was your experience like as a Lake George student?
A: I really enjoyed my time at Lake George and took advantage of opportunities to get involved. I served as president of Peer Counselors and participated in Peer Mentoring, Student Council and SADD. I was also a class representative and forum representative. Outside of school, I spent my summers working in the ticket office at the Lake George Steamboat Company. Between my school activities and summer job, I gained valuable experience working with the public, taking on leadership responsibilities and connecting with people in the community.
Q: How did growing up in Lake George and attending school here shape who you are today?
A: Lake George gave me a lot of opportunities to get involved, and that carried over into my college years and beyond. Being part of a smaller community also allowed me to see firsthand how much people put into supporting one another. While I was in college, I received a Second Year Scholarship Award from the Lake George Alumni Association. Having been on the receiving end of that support, it means a lot to now be involved with the organization and have the opportunity to give back to other Lake George graduates. It’s rewarding to be part of something that continues to support students long after they leave Lake George.
Q: What are you doing today?
A: Today, I work as a software engineer at Alliant Insurance Services, where I support the technology needs of our underwriting division. Outside of work, I enjoy running and staying involved with organizations that have played an important role in my life. Much of my volunteer time is dedicated to Lake George and SUNY Poly. I joined the Lake George Alumni Association Board of Directors in 2022 and currently serve as secretary. I help with technology, communications, events and other projects behind the scenes. I also served as chair of SUNY Poly’s Alumni Association Advisory Committee during 2025–2026. Giving back to both schools has been a meaningful way to stay connected to the communities that helped shape me.

Q: Where has life taken you since graduation?
A: After graduating from SUNY Poly, I decided to stay in the Utica area and now live in Whitesboro. My wife, Alison, is a math teacher at Whitesboro High School. We got married in June 2025 and have a greyhound named Dougie. I’ve also had some memorable opportunities along the way. While at SUNY Poly, I helped organize two Relay for Life events that raised more than $35,000 combined for the American Cancer Society. For my work in student government, I received the SUNY Student Assembly’s Student Government President of the Year award and SUNY Poly’s Student Life Award. In 2022, I was invited back to SUNY Poly to deliver the Convocation keynote address welcoming the incoming Class of 2026. Getting to return as an alumnus and speak to a new generation of students was a really cool experience. Although I’ve made my home in the Utica area, Lake George continues to be an important part of my life. Serving on the Alumni Association Board has allowed me to maintain that connection while helping create opportunities for future generations of Lake George graduates.
