Lake George Student Honored for Outstanding Community Service

Lake George High School student Rebecca Pape was recognized at the annual Adirondack Area School Board Student Community Service Awards event held at the Queensbury Hotel. She stood alongside 30 other students from the Washington-Saratoga-Warren-Hamilton-Essex (WSWHE) BOCES region, all celebrated for their exceptional contributions to their local communities.

When asked about her passions in community service and what motivates her to give back to Lake George, Rebecca highlighted her involvement with Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) and New Hope Community Church.

“My main community service is with FBLA and New Hope Community Church,” Rebecca explained. “Through FBLA, I have been very involved in the annual snowman painting event for many years, both organizing and participating in the event. In my church, I have volunteered with the kids ministry being a classroom helper and a Vacation Bible School leader. Also, this year I started running my youth group’s Instagram. For me, the initial draw to volunteering is that it’s fun. You get to meet new people, experience new things, and be part of something bigger than yourself.”

Reflecting on a particularly meaningful moment from her service, Rebecca shared an impactful experience from her time as a Vacation Bible School leader.

“While I was a VBS leader, our 3rd-grade classroom had many children give their lives to Jesus,” she said. “It was so cool being a part of something that literally had eternal impact. When serving, I think it’s important to be in an area that you are passionate about, because that’s when you will be able to make the most difference.”

Rebecca’s dedication to both FBLA and her church demonstrates a commitment to serving a wide range of needs within the Lake George community, from bringing joy to the annual snowman painting event to making a significant impact on young lives through her church involvement.

Congratulations to Rebecca on this well-deserved recognition for her outstanding community service
