John DiNuzzo, President of the Lake George Battlefield Park Alliance, along with Margaret Mannix, Lake George Town Historian and Trustee of the Alliance, recently presented a $200 donation to members of the Lake George School student newspaper, The Lake Take. The gift was made in honor of the recent visit by Pulitzer Prize–winning historian and author Rick Atkinson.
During his time in Lake George, Atkinson met with several members of The Lake Take, including participating in a special luncheon at the school. Students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn firsthand about his research process, writing, and career in journalism and history.
Reflecting on the visit, DiNuzzo shared, “December 12, 2025, was a special day for the entire Lake George community as we hosted Rick Atkinson. With this donation, we hope to ensure that the seeds he planted continue to grow through journalism at Lake George School.”
Student newspaper club member Haylee Keith, junior, also spoke about the experience, saying, “It was great to hear someone speak about something they are so passionate about, without the pressure of a graded activity. It allowed us to really listen and learn from what he had to say.”
