Freshman and Sophomore students from Lake George had the opportunity to explore more than 25 skilled trades and career pathways on Friday, Sept. 25, as part of the TradesWork program hosted at Queensbury School District.
TradesWork is a hands-on, career-connected program designed to introduce students to skilled trades and Career and Technical Education (CTE) opportunities before they commit to a full CTE program. The program brings together students from Lake George CSD, Queensbury UFSD and Corinth CSD in partnership with WSWHE BOCES.
Throughout the school year, participating students will visit each school for different trades-focused activities, giving them opportunities to learn about a variety of careers, meet employers and industry professionals, build employability skills and discover career paths that match their interests and strengths.
During Friday’s event at Queensbury, students were introduced to more than 25 careers across a variety of trades and industries. The exploration will continue in December when Lake George hosts participating students for informational sessions highlighting different trades and career pathways.
By giving students these experiences early in high school, TradesWork helps them make more informed decisions about CTE programming before their junior year while building a clearer picture of the opportunities available to them after graduation.
