Students in grades five and six practiced their persuasive speaking and listening skills by participating in a "Find Your Perfect Match" book speed dating event in the Lake George Elementary School Library.
Each student had 30 seconds to talk about his/her favorite book and convince peers to read the recommended book in the future. The students found that with each time they pitched their book, public speaking became a little easier. The students also realized the importance of sharing the highlights without completely giving away the entire story.
The selected books were quarantined for 72 hours and then made available for borrowing.
