Return to Play "High Risk" Sports

February 9, 2021

Dear LGHS Parents/Guardians and LGHS Student Athletes,

We have received further guidance related to the start of the high risk winter sports (Boys and Girls Basketball, Wrestling) from Warren County DOH. Each district was required to create and submit a preparedness plan (click here to view) to be approved by the district's medical director and Board of Education. The medical director did not approve wrestling to proceed. At tonight's Board of Education meeting, Boys and Girls Basketball was approved to proceed.

Once the metrics set by Warren County DOH are met, we can begin full basketball practices and competitions (click here to view). At this time, the metrics have been met and full basketball practices will begin tomorrow ~ Wednesday, February 10, 2021. If the metrics move above acceptable levels, we will temporarily pause full practices and competitions. Additionally at the Board of Education meeting, Football and Volleyball were conditionally approved pending our Medical Director's review and approval to proceed during the "fall 2" season. Additional information will be shared soon regarding "fall 2" sports.

The following steps need to be completed in order for your student athlete to begin official NYSPHSAA practices:

A.) If you have already registered for the basketball winter intramural offering you will receive an email from FamilyID to validate your Health History Information and sign a Covid-19 High Risk sport informed consent.

B.) If you have not registered your student athlete please follow the instructions below to do so.

Additionally, please review the dates and important information in LG Athletics 2020-21 Covid Protocols. Our focus at this time is to provide a safe athletic opportunity for our student athletes. Note that spectators are not permitted. We will share information about live streaming of contests when available. Coaches will contact student athletes and families who have registered with details regarding practice times, locations and protocols specific to each sport.

Registration for Winter Sports is open online via FamilyID. To register please click here. Information regarding registration for Fall 2 Sports will be posted in the next few weeks.
