We have been fortunate to have beautiful weather this fall and only one brush with the four-letter “s” word that rhymes with go. With our proven ability to deliver instruction remotely, many folks are wondering if snow days will become a thing of the past.
The NYS Education Department established a one-year pilot program that enables school districts to pivot to remote instruction on what would otherwise be a day of school closure due to a snow emergency. This is a nice option that will provide the district with flexibility should we need it, however, the LGCSD plan is to keep the magic of snow days.
Our hope is that children of all ages will continue their pre-storm traditions of wearing pajamas inside out and putting spoons under their pillows in the hopes of a snow day. We hope they continue to play outside, help their parents shovel, and please share pictures with us of all the creative ways they spend their free time.
Please note that as NYS continues to release mandates in response to the ongoing global pandemic, and as we experienced last year, school schedules may change. We will keep you apprised of any changes as soon as they are brought to our attention.
