Lake George CSD's 69th Commencement Ceremony

The Lake George High School Class of 2020 experienced a send-off celebration like no other! Due to the global pandemic, the traditional celebratory events were reconfigured so the graduates could celebrate in-person, which was very important to the tight-knit group.

The senior academic and athletic award ceremonies, along with two graduation ceremonies, took place outside at the Elementary School on Friday evening and Saturday morning. Seniors were seated 6' apart, donning Lake George face masks that were made especially for them, while family members sat on the soccer field below, spaced 6' apart from each other.

The theme chosen by the Honor Group for the 69th Commencement Ceremony was “Persevering Against The Odds.” The 84 graduates have the distinction of being the only class to graduate at the Elementary School’s soccer field.

High School Principal Fancis Cocozza delivered the opening remarks, including a moment of silence for those who lost their lives due to COVID-19. Tess Armstrong then lead The Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a welcome from Superintendent Lynne Rutnik.

Honor students Gabriella Marchello, Reya Singh, and Juliana Yepes-Hoyos delivered a group address with an emphasis on overcoming obstacles. Honor students Joseph Cocozza, Joshua Defayette, and Rachel Hunsicker followed up with speaking about how obstacles have shaped their future. The class gift was presented to Advisor Greg Luckenbaugh by Kylie Mann, and the class gift to the school was presented by Tess Armstrong. High School Principal Francis Cocozza then gave an inspiring address, followed by the presentation of diplomas by Board of Education President Tricia Connor Biles, Vice President Lin King, and Members Katie Bruening, Timothy Collins, Maryanne MacKenzie, Melissa Seale, and Thomas Seguljic.

Please join us in wishing the Class of 2020 the best of luck in all their future endeavors!
