Congratulations "C.R.E.A.T.E." Students of the Month

Congratulations to Lily Montville and Michael Burrows who received the first Board of Education L. Montville, M. Burrows, and T. Biles “C.R.E.A.T.E.” Student Recognition Award at the September 10, 2019 Board of Education meeting.

Lily and Michael were nominated by their principals for modeling the district values of “Collaboration, Respect, Excellence, Accountability, Trust, and Empathy.”

Lilly was recognized because she is always respectful, collaborates with others, and demonstrates empathy for others. She pursues excellence in academics and extracurricular activities – she had top scores for 5th grade NYS ELA and Math tests and is a member of Young Scholars, Battle of the Books, All-County Band, and LGES Cabaret. She volunteers to do the morning announcements and serves as a greeter at the Elementary School. She helps maintain the school fountains, gardens, courtyard. She also adopted an abandoned thoroughbred race horse named Luna and helped rehabilitate her.

Michael was recognized for his commitment to excellence in all that he is involved in at school, Boy Scouts, sports, and church. One project that illustrates his empathy and overall kindness toward others is the Eagle Scout project he recently completed for Caldwell Preschool, in which he made the playground safer for children who play there.

"Our goal this year is to intentionally focus on our values, and I am happy to collaborate with the Board of Education on this fun and important initiative," said Superintendent Lynne Rutnik.
