LG Student Athletes to Benefit from Partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance

Lake George Central School District student athletes are poised to benefit from the district’s new partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a national non-profit organization devoted to providing all youth and high school athletes with a positive, character-building sports experience.

The partnership provides Lake George Central School District Athletics access to PCA’s training for coaches, sports parents, student-athletes, and administrators. The training workshops, online courses, and books by PCA Founder Jim Thompson – plus additional online resources such as tips and reminders – will help the district create a Development Zone™ culture in which the goal is to develop Better Athletes, Better People and the following become the prevailing models in youth and high school sports:

  • The Double-Goal Coach®, who strives to win while also pursuing the more important goal of teaching life lessons through sports
  • The Second-Goal Parent®, who concentrates on life lessons while letting coaches and athletes focus on competing
  • The Triple-Impact Competitor®, who strives to impact sport on three levels by improving oneself, one’s teammates, and the game as a whole

“We look forward to working with Lake George Central School District to create the best possible experience for the student-athletes,” said PCA Founder Jim Thompson. “Our research-based materials combine the latest in sports psychology, education, and practical advice from top pro and college coaches and athletes. These resources will help improve athletic performance and instill lessons that will help student-athletes throughout the rest of their lives.”

Lake George CSD Director of Athletics Kyle Manny said: “We are extremely excited to begin this partnership as we seek to put our athletics mission, vision, and values into action each and every day with our student athletes.”

To jump-start the new partnership, PCA will hold three workshops on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 for Lake George student-athletes, coaches, and parents of athletes. All workshops will take place in the Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School Auditorium.

  1. Student Athlete Workshop (for fall, winter, spring athletes grades 7-12):  10:15-11:30am
  2. Coaches Workshop: 3:30-5:30pm
  3. Parent Workshop (*includes fall sports preseason parent meetings):  6-7:30pm
