A World-Class Team!

Congratulations to the Lake George VEX Robotics Team on an outstanding world championship tournament. The team improved their overall world ranking from #588 to #372 out of 6,600 teams competing in that challenge.

The team had a grueling four-day tournament schedule during which they had to analyze data from opposing teams as well as alliance teams. Team members scouted other teams to look for strengths/weaknesses to form strategies and plan each match. In some cases, they had to work with language barriers and make program changes on the fly. The Lake George team decisively won six matches, which is a big improvement over lasts year’s debut of three wins and #776 world ranking.

The group worked, collaborated, and pushed to the last match, competing in the “Science Division” where the winners of this division ultimately went on to become the World Champions.

After an early team strategy meeting, the team, led by Luke Kelly and Austin Smith, completely refocused and played up to world class team standards posting some of the top scores this season. They represented New York and the Lake George community with class and respect and proved that they truly are a world class team. Please help us congratulate Luke Kelly, Austin Smith, Carson Bruening, Christian Siletti, Madeline Gorey, Mike Burrows, Kristian Johnson, and their coaches!

"Once again, this team has far exceed my expectations after losing 13 exceptional seniors last year," said Robotics Coach Larry Stroebel. "Their success is a reflection of a district that supports these unique opportunities as well as a dedicated teaching staff K-12 that  promotes a competitive student body who continue to raise the bar."

Please take a look at some pictures from their trip.
