Two Lake George Athletes Signed National Letters of Intent

The Lake George Central School District is proud to announce that two scholar-athletes signed their National Letters of Intent to continue their athletic careers at NCAA Division I universities next year. The Athletic Department held a signing event for Graceann Bennett and Mattie Williams on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 in the Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School gym.

Graceann Bennett signed her letter of intent to continue her athletic career in girls basketball at Georgetown University. Bennett is 6-foot-2 center and one of the top players in Section II. Bennett was named the Most Valuable Player in Adirondack League girls basketball for the 2017-18 season. She averaged 23 points and 17 rebounds per game for the Warriors last season, helping them to an 18-4 record overall.

Mattie Williams signed her letter of intent to continue her competitive swimming career at the University of Richmond. Williams is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American scholar athlete who qualified for Junior Nationals in the 100- and 200-yard and meter backstroke events. Williams competes with the Schenectady-Saratoga Sharks Swim Club. 

"We are extremely proud of these student athletes, who have not only maintained rigorous academic and training schedules, but also served as a positive role models in our school community and within our larger community. I want to acknowledge their extracurricular and community service activities," said Lake George Superintendent Lynne Rutnik. "Not only are they role models, they are inspiring to both students and adults alike. I am looking forward to following their careers!"
