Virtual Learning Process & Qualifications

  • Since the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, a Virtual Learning Model has been available for students/families to opt out of returning to in-person learning. This option requires a 10-week commitment.

As the school year has progressed, there have been a variety of reasons that students have not joined in-person learning for short periods of time. This document will serve to define which situations qualify for joining the Virtual Learning Model for a short-period of time. Participation in the Virtual Learning Model allows a student to be marked as “present” in school.

The following COVID related situations qualify a student for short-term participation in the Virtual Learning Model:

    • Mandated quarantining for COVID/medical reasons/contact tracing reasons

    • Testing positive for COVID

**Students who remain home due to COVID like symptoms for 1-2 days will not be a Virtual Learning student. As per the NYSDOH recommendation, a student remaining home for more than 48 hours due to COVID like symptoms requires a COVID test.

For Elementary Students Only: Students awaiting COVID test results may have the opportunity to join Virtual Learning.  Arrangements will be made through the office.

Please refer to the attached chart for the steps to follow should a short-term absence occur.
