Response to Intervention (RTI)

  • Response to Intervention is a significant educational strategy that is designed to identify students who may be at risk for substandard academic performance and intervene with supplemental efforts targeted to their learning needs.

The overall purpose of RTI at Lake George Jr.-Sr. High School is to provide quality, research-based, differentiated instruction in an effort to prevent academic difficulties.

RTI is a multi-tiered framework that provides increasing levels of instructional support. We use a 4-tiered model that consists of the following:

    Tier 1:
Differentiated instruction in the general education classroom
    5x/week @ 35-40-minutes per session

    Tier 2:
Supplemental instruction in a small group with a reading specialist/interventionist or general education teacher
    1-5x/week @20-40 minutes per session

    Tier 3:
Supplemental intensive reading/math instruction with a reading specialist/interventionist, general education teacher (math), or special education teacher
Every day or every 2 days @ 20-40 minutes per session

    Tier 4:
    Special Education
