Words Their Way Spelling Program

  • Words Their Way is a differential spelling program that determines individual students' spelling skills and provides specified spelling lists based on those needs. Some of these skills include spelling patterns, short and long vowel sounds, prefixes and suffixes, Greek and Latin roots. Students are introduced to these concepts when developmentally appropriate. Words are introduced at the beginning of each week starting with a sort; words are separated into groups based on common spelling characteristics.

Handwriting Without Tears

  • Handwriting Without Tears is a handwriting program used for cursive instruction. Students are provided with guided letter formation practice followed by a page of independent practice of each letter they are taught. As the book progresses, students are introduced to some grammar elements-such as verb tenses, pronouns, and conjunctions. Students continue to practice their cursive while working on the grammar concepts.
