Foreign Language Department Goal

Foreign Language Writing Guidelines
Lake George Jr/Sr High School

These are minimum requirements and involve writing in the target language.

• 7th Grade

  • Word count - 20+ words

  • Periodically including a writing task that relates to current topics

• 8th Grade

  • Word count - 30+ words

  • At minimum, writing 2 notes of specified word count every other week.

• 9th Grade

  • Word count - 50+ words

  • At minimum, one note per month.

• 10th Grade

  • Word count - 75+ words

  • Modified Regents rubric based on what students do and don't know (via the department Curriculum Maps)

  • At minimum, one note per month

• 11th Grade

  • Word count - 100+ words

  • At minimum, 15 Regents writing tasks per year

• 12th Grade (UHS French 221/Spanish 103 included)

  • As determined by the college curriculum and SUNY Albany

   

   

   

   

   

   

4th Quarter does not allow the use of reference materials in their writing, grades 7-11, nor does it allow for corrections for improvement in a student's grade.
