Forum Meeting Minutes

Chairperson Roger Wells opened the meeting

• Jim looked into the elementary social worker position. He found that that position was designed to be shared between both buildings. Before going further with trying to get a social worker position here at the high school, research will be done to see if the existing position can be used here also.

• Still looking for new chairperson for Middle States next year

• School Safety

• ID’s are a good idea but there are logistical details that need to be discussed…What if kids forget them, etc….
• Administrators should be present at entire events
• A presentation to parents about computer safety was brought up.
• Look into adding to our MMS program so the school photos can be used along with it.
• If we are going to require students to use ID’s teachers and staff should also be using ID’s
• Suggestion of a multipurpose card – it works as library card, lunch card, ID, school store etc. There would need to be a standard fee for the replacement of any lost card. Equipment to read these cards would also need to be added.
• Should there be one spot for kids to be in the am and pm?
• Kids seem to rise to the occasion here. We give them a lot of responsibility and it seems like they respect that and there really are not a lot of problems so do we really need to "tighten up"?
• Greeters – possibly 2 a day, rotating throughout the day - one at the door one walking around the halls.

• Superintendent’s Day

• There will also be a bullying program at the Intermediate level at the elementary school. It will be the same presenter that was at the high school.
• Feedback for topics in the morning and time to work in the afternoon was positive.
• We used to have a Safe Homes Programs…should we bring it back?

• Spirit Week

• Looking for teachers, staff and students to work together to prepare ideas for next years spirit week. Should be more of a reflection of school pride.

• Other
  • Is the current 75 grade requirement for frees high enough? If not and the grade is to be raised everyone needs to remember that the number of kids in study halls will increase and that will add "stress" to a shortage of classrooms and teachers already.

Next meeting is Tuesday January 15th and the agenda is to discuss last two pages of goals.

All members in constituent meetings are asked to discuss:

• Committee for Spirit Week – anyone interested?
• Raising current 75 for frees?
• Middle States Chairperson – ANYONE? ANYONE?
