FEBRUARY 14, 2006
Present: Nick Round, Dave Eagle, Linda Kissane, Sue Mellon, Roger Wells, Tom Dittus, Trista Tallon, Bill Elder, Patricia Dow, Peggy Jones, Karen Pound
Biennial Report
* NY State form which addresses district plans needed to be approved. Both the Cabinet and Forum will discuss at their meetings. Forum approved – though we need to address the lack of student involvement area. Dave will ask Student Council for interested students.
* Nick made motion to approve, seconded by Roger. Motion passed
II Black History Month
The assembly on Friday featuring Garland was a success.
III 2nd Draft of the 2006 – 2007 Calendar
* BOE will be voting on this Wed evening.
* At the present time, it is difficult to schedule 2 staff dev days for the beginning of
school due to the bus schedule and the Elem school parent days.
IV AIS Labs
* Dave and Nick are continuing to work on future plans
* Possibility of adding additional Math AIS staff
V Homework
* Are the homework and assessments relevant and meaningful? Heather is teaching a
workshop which might be of some interest to address these areas. Forum thought this
was an interesting topic to pursue in light of the recent Faculty meeting which
focused on Assessments. Perhaps a staff development day will feature these topics.
VI Public Relations Position
* It would be beneficial for more publicity featuring school events: Talent Show, Quiz
Bowl. Dave will follow up on this.
VII Power Standards/Graduate Descriptor Brochure
Dave has asked Brenda and a student to spruce up our pamphlet. We are prepared to change some of the areas after discussing with our constituents. Dave would like to distribute this to the community, real estate personnel, and students. Constituents should share their thoughts. Where can we feature these? Classrooms, newsletter, etc. Should we include more Mel Levine research in our goals? Can the criteria be used for student of the quarter?
Patricia Dow shared goals which condensed the Saratoga Springs standards.
Constituent Matters:
Rewrite descriptors and where to display?
FYI – Excellent book – The World is Flat by Todd Freeman was recommended!!
