I. Constituent Feedback

AIS Issues

· Some constituents felt AIS could be held before or after school. 7th Grade feels there is not enough time and there is need for more AIS in general. Others asked if the schedule could be "tweaked" or changed around the fit these needs. Vicki Greene provided a "tracking" form that she uses with AIS. Constituents should use the NYSED web site for updated issues, compliance rules and regs, and other information from State Ed. Some felt that there should be a coordinator of AIS Services. Others felt the ½ time reading teacher at Elm school could come to HS in the afternoon. Amy Baker said she would offer to look at her schedule to see what could be done. Could TA’s be used as AIS teachers? The answer is no. SED requires that the facilitator must be certified in reading and content areas. This does not mean TA’s can’t assist in this area.

· Ideas were generated about possibly shortening periods and adding another period. Where could we shift time and/or make better use of time? Concerns included the need for an increased number of bus runs.

· Dave Eagle and Nick Round are compiling a summary and recommendations "report" for these AIS Issues.

Other Issues

· Some constituents feel that there needs to be more awareness and education of issues. (drug use, alcohol, pills, etc.) for staff and parents.

· Dave Eagle noted in response that the P.E. department is doing programming to address these areas. They had done a lot on eating disorders for example. Patricia Dow wanted to know how feedback was being measured.

· It was suggested that when classes have speakers or programs in these "character education" areas, teachers should be notified via the week ahead.

· Constituents should also be reminded that there is a School Wellness Committee.

II. Quality of Work/Excellence Goal

· A dialogue on this goal began. Senior teachers feel that students are having trouble meeting deadlines. Attention was directed to an old brochure created by Forum years ago, and the Power Standards set forth by Saratoga School District.

Constituents should view these and think about how they could be edited. What ideas would people have for using and promoting it? What could we add, delete, change, etc. The goal is to make it less philosophical and more specific.

III. Other

· Dave would like to plan another Wellness Day for April. Would constituents prefer the same as last year (DWI Information/Destructive Decisions)? Other ideas?

· The Wellness Day that was planned years ago that put teachers in students in various wellness activities together (Yoga, etc.) was brought up. Would people be interested in that kind of a day? This may be difficult to pull of for this coming April, but could be done the following year.

· Constituent feedback needed for these ideas.
